Are you a remixer purist? If so you may see this “belly-dancing/swing video in pseudo-cynical terms; in other words somebody, i.e., the one who “remixed” it, has confused (deliberately?) remixing with mere juxtaposition.  There are many technical points to consider before an absolute critical verdict can be announced (one that hopefully will have profound influence on after effect music manipulation). Now there is some immediate strength in the It’s Not Actually Remix accusation, because, well, not only is the music not dubbed partially over (franchised) with another melodic/rhythmic line it is in its original form and juxtaposed with visual images. But of course this debate will go on for decades. We’re certainly not going to settle it here.  Anyway, I really love the video. Belly dancing is fascinating to watch, even when remixed/juxtaposed with the way different genre of  1940′s swing, played by the  Benny Goodman Orchestra from 1938 (yes, I consider 1938 to be the forties).

Title: “Sing Sing Sing” Remix

(If you like your remix/juxtaposition higher on the food chain, here’s another vid (also using forties music): Christina Aguilera VS The Andrew Sisters)

Yes, a tenth of the speed of light is still pretty fast; in fact the tenth of a second of any fast moving body is gosh darn speedy. Hey, check those tenths out for yourself next time you head out to he highway.

This episode of Dragnet is here.

Note: Hey what about those other variables–like the speed of that oncoming car for starters…maybe we could buy the farm in the first tenth.

Will Islamic youth, in the guise of badass punk rockers, deliver Islam from the present course? Possibly; after all, Irshad Manji, quoting Melvin van Peebles, says “sometimes, sweet badasses, you have to slam-dance yourtaqwacore-400pix2 way to freedom.” Here’s another story on the subject of The Taqwacores. Keep in mind The Doors’ Break on Through [to the Other Side].
